People in the B&B felt it much more than the hikers did. Visit Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden. Private tour by Jeff Boggelin. Beautiful plants and flowers. Lunch in Honomu at the Woodshop Gallery Cafe. Hike to Akaka Falls (442 feet) and Kahuna Falls (417 feet). Drive north along the Hamakua Coast. Much debris on the road from the earthquake; boulders, landslides, trees. Visit Laupahoehoe Beach where the 1946 tsunami killed many students. Drive to a view of the lava from the east end of the road. |

Visit
Rainbow Falls. Walk Lili'uokalani Park. Drive to Volcanoes National Park. Check into My Island B&B. Kilauea Visitors' Center, Volcano Art Center Gallery and Volcano House. Lunch at Kilauea Golf Course. Hike Thurston’s Lava Tube in the rain. Listen to stories of Hawaii by Gordon Morse. Dinner at Kilauea Lodge (not recommended). |

Drive.
Stops at Kilauea Overlook, Jagger Museum at the Volcano
Observatory, Halema'uma'u Overlook and the 1974 Lava Flow. Hike Devastation Trail to Pu'u Pua'i Overlook. Hike Kilauea Iki Crater. Lunch at Lava Rock Cafe in Volcano. Pu'u Loa Petroglyph hike. View Holei Sea Arch. Picnic dinner at the ocean watching the steam clouds from lava pouring into the ocean. |
