On Wednesday, March 29, 2006, a total eclipse of the Sun was visible from within a narrow corridor which traverses the Atlantic Ocean, northern Africa, the eastern Mediterranean, Turkey and Russia. The duration of totality at our observing location on the Turkish Riviera was 3 minutes and 44 seconds. The eclipse occurred at 1:58 PM local time at an altitude of 55 degrees.

From our vantage point south of Manavgat we were very near the shadow's centerline. We found a hilltop location in a rural field next to a water tower. Our 360 degree view included the ocean, coastline and mountains.
